European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) – Policy Session: A new decade for self-consumption: the age of maturity

The state of play on self-consumption made by the different stakeholders could serve as a cornerstone to push the debate forward and help reimagine self-consumption in the light of both energy supply and prices crisis.

This session will address the increase of renewable energy connections and its impact on grid balance. It fits with the ongoing political discussions on the Fit for 55 package, the REPowerEU plan and the revision of the Electricity Market Design. Organisers will dive into this rich political context to highlight the new role of self-consumption. Buildings and mobility are essential areas to decarbonise and new energy consumption behaviours have to be adapted accordingly. The session is also timely in view of the ongoing review of the existing Grid Connection Network Codes.
